Our Tried, Effective Fishing Technique
FLY & BUBBLE LAKE FISHING

Spin Fishermen

1. Use 1 1/2" egg shape clear (water fillable) plastic bubble called Cast-a Bubble.
2. Run your line from the tip of your pole, from the narrow funnel end of the bubble to the wide end.
3. Tie on a barrel swivel, a split ring or a snap swivel - large enough not to go down into the funnel hole.
4. Take #2 - #4 - #6 Test line the length of your pole (but at least 5') and attach it to your swivel, barrel or split ring.
5. Then tie on your "Montera's Marvel" at the end of your leader.
6. Cast the bubble and fly in the water with your spinning rod.
7. Let the bubble and fly sink for however long you determine you want the depth to be.  They will sink approximately 3" per second.   If you want to fish the surface of the water let X amount of water out of the bubble.
8. Then start your retrieval.  Make it extremely slow.  The slower the better.  Reel about 3 - 6 times and give your rod a sharp twitch.  Repeat this maneuver until you get a strike as you reel towards shore.  If you get a strike set the hook.  Sometimes you will just feel a heaviness - if you do then set the hook also.   If you miss the strike when you set the hook then immediately stop -- wait about 5-10 seconds and then start again.  The fish will sometimes return and strike it again.

Fly Fishermen
May use Montera's Marvels also.  Just strip them like nymph fishing or place a split shot above the fly.  You may fish the flies in large rivers (Arkansas) also - across and upstream in deep pools, etc.

Boat/Pontoon/Belly Boat Fishermen
You may also troll these behind your boat with down riggers or with leaded line.   Pontoon or Belly Boat may troll them also, or jig them if you're in a holding current in the lake.  Same technique applies as the Spin Fishermen.  They have also been jigged through the ice.
